13 Applewood to 2200 Market St...1166 Miles

This is Kansas, and it doesn't change at all.

Hello!

This is going to be short and sweet because not a ton went on that was real exciting on the way out here. Still I just wanted to update everyone!

I got up on the 17th at 4:15am and loaded the final things into the uhaul, which is a 12 by 6 trailer. It is enormous. Anyway after everything was loaded I drove to pick up Matt and got on the road. It was Him, Sharma, Boss and myself. Wowzer. What I am going to do is make a list of some of the interesting things from the miserable drive out here.

-We were 13 miles in a found a fun little detour near college corner. This added a half hour or so right off the bat. Very nice start.

-Sharma went to sleep as soon as he got in the car and slept until we got to Colorado. Literally would wake up when we stopped for gas to pee then go right back to sleep. Amazing and kind of confusing! How does any creature sleep that long?

-Boss yelled at us for the first hour or so then fell into a strange pattern of only yelling at us when the music went off. Music was on and loud, he was fine. Music went off or got quiet, he got mad.

-Although he was quiet he was staring angrily at Matt and myself the entire trip. See picture attached.

-When we came to a stop the uhaul would feel like it was going to rip off the back of my car...which wouldn't have been the best thing.

-We stopped for gas at more weird places than I or he ever want to the rest of our lives.

-The final hour, of our first day of driving, Boss literally was smashing his face against the cage door and screaming at us. He was so displeased. We had to have our fingers through the cage door trying to pet him (which he would not allow) or he would be meowing very loudly. It was awful.

-Burlington CO (where we stopped) was a miserable town. If you can even call it that. It was one of the larger cities on the map of Eastern CO and it was the size of a thimble. Eastern CO sucks.

-Oxford to Burlington took us 19 hours; the longest day of driving I have ever attempted.

-We tried to sedate Boss but he kept spitting our the pill and sifting through his food to get away from it.

-Matt and I decided that Kansas should be turned into land strictly for wind power turbines and we then would be able to move all the homeless people in the world there to service the giant fans.

-Kansas sucks so bad...see pictures attached

-During continental breakfast we saw a very dumb man walk up to the coffee station and look at all the options. There were 3 warmers with coffee in them. Next to that was a GIANT industrial sized coffee brewer that fills the GIANT warmers. He decided the best thing to do was put a TINY paper cup under the brewer and hit brew. This of course was idiotic and resulted in a massive amount of coffee spilling all over the place to which his response to employees was not apologetic or even affected at all. Matt and I were hoping the hot coffee would spill on him for being both stupid and an ass to the employees.

-Since we drove so far the previous day we only had 2.5 hours to get to my apartment...which was so nice after the 19 hour day.

-When we got there we unloaded quickly and took the uhaul back.

-We are lucky to be alive.

-The uhaul place was in a less that great part of town. 1 of the employees was drinking, the other was smoking. After we got the car back into the spot (which he had me back it into since he (i assume) didn't want a DUI,) he bent down to unhook it. He looked at my license plate and said, "Utah?" Matt and I looked at each other with intrigue and confusion prior to my response which was, "Ohio." He said nothing else. Also, he had a cigarette in his mouth the entire time. When we left the woman working said, "be careful." I think that was legitimate advice vs polite banter.

-Sharma is afraid of the elevator and Boss has been under the bed for the vast majority of the time we have been in the apartment.

Once we had all the stuff in Matt and I had lunch and a beer at the Breckenridge Brewery, which is only a block from our place. Afterward we organized some stuff then went out to Morrison to climb. We also hiked to the top of the Red Rocks Plateau. The view is amazing.

The next day, today, we went mountain biking at Matthew's Winters, which connects to the Red Rock's trails in Morrison CO. It was really nice however my legs felt like they were on fire from around the 1/3 mile mark. I took a little digger on some rocks but no big problems to speak of. Afterward I took Matt to the airport and said goodbye. It was unbearably hard for both me and him. The rest of the day I spent organized the apartment and trying to finalize things for June first when grad school starts. That about sums it up! Goodnight everyone.

These 2 pictures were taken 10 or so hours apart...he hadn't moved a whole lot.

These 2 pictures explain why I got a ticket while moving in....I was outside the loading zone.
One good thing came out of Kansas...a nice sunset.

This picture doesn't really belong here but this is from Matt and my last trip to the red. We saw this guy taking pictures and then ran into him later. We asked if he would send us any if we happened to be in any. We got this email today! So cool. Candid of our final trip to the red together.
